How BOGO Dispensary Deals Work: What to Know
BOGO (Buy One Get One) deals at dispensaries are a popular way to save on cannabis products. Here’s how they typically work and what you need to know before you shop.
- Understand the offer – Most BOGO deals require you to purchase one item at full price to receive a second item free or at a discount. Some deals are product-specific (e.g., buy one vape cartridge, get one free), while others apply to a category like edibles or flower.
- Check eligibility – BOGO deals are usually available to all customers, but some may be limited to first-time visitors or loyalty program members. At Nightjar Cannabis, we often rotate BOGO offers for everyone.
- Know the limits – Dispensaries may cap the number of BOGO deals per customer per visit. For example, you might be limited to one BOGO offer per transaction. Purchase limits for recreational cannabis in New Jersey also apply: up to 1 ounce of flower or equivalent per transaction.
- Look for daily deals – Many dispensaries, including Nightjar Cannabis, offer daily deals like BOGO edible deals every Friday or weekly flower specials. Check our menu or call ahead to see what’s available today.
- Ask about birthday deals – Some dispensaries offer BOGO or free items on your birthday. While not all shops do, it’s worth asking if you’re celebrating. At Nightjar Cannabis, we occasionally offer birthday promotions—check with our team.
- Combine with other discounts – BOGO deals may or may not stack with other promotions like first-time discounts or loyalty rewards. Ask a budtender for details.
If you’re new to dispensaries, don’t worry—going to a dispensary does not go on your record. It’s a straightforward shopping experience. For more tips, see our guide on [[nervous-about-going-to-dispensary|what to expect when visiting a dispensary]].

Are BOGO Dispensary Deals Legal? Rules and Limits
BOGO deals on recreational cannabis are legal in New Jersey for adults 21 and older, but there are rules to follow. Here’s a checklist to ensure you stay within the law.
- Age requirement – You must be 21 or older to purchase recreational cannabis, including BOGO deals. Bring a valid ID.
- Purchase limits – New Jersey law allows up to 1 ounce of flower or its equivalent per transaction. BOGO deals count toward this limit, so plan accordingly.
- Licensed dispensary – Only buy from licensed dispensaries like Nightjar Cannabis (license #RE000474). Unlicensed sellers may not follow safety or legal standards.
- No mail order for rec – While some states allow mail order, New Jersey does not permit recreational cannabis delivery from unlicensed sources. Always buy in person or from a licensed delivery service.
- Safety first – BOGO deals are safe when purchased from a reputable dispensary. Our store smells nice, has private bathrooms, and accepts credit cards. For more on safety, see our guide on [[dispensaries-that-accept-credit-cards-near-me|paying at dispensaries]].
If you have questions about legality or limits, ask our budtenders. For medical cannabis patients, separate rules may apply.
Dispensary
A dispensary is a place where medications, medical supplies, or treatments are distributed, often in a school, hospital, or industrial setting. In a traditional pharmacy, a pharmacist dispenses medicine according to a prescription. The term also applies to legal cannabis dispensaries, which sell recreational and medical cannabis products to adults. These stores operate under strict regulations, ensuring product safety and compliance with state laws. For cannabis shoppers, a dispensary is a retail space where you can browse flower, edibles, vapes, and concentrates, often with promotions like BOGO deals. At Nightjar Cannabis in Bloomfield, NJ, we provide a welcoming environment with knowledgeable staff to help you find the right products at the right price.
